Huis van mijn herinneringen — Poster & Scrapbook Design

This project was a deeply personal one. I was asked to design both the promotional poster and a behind-the-scenes scrapbook for Huis van mijn herinneringen, a short film set in the 70s/80s, where the main character explores her inner world and past traumas through therapy. Much of the story unfolds in her mind, with the therapist's voice present only through the radio creating an atmosphere that’s both intimate and surreal.
The scrapbook became more than just a documentation of the process; it’s a layered object that reflects the fragmented, introspective tone of the film. It combines film stills, behind-the-scenes photography, and scans of physical elements such as handwritten notes, textures, and materials used during production. This analog approach is something I’m naturally drawn to: I enjoy working with tactile processes, bringing in the imperfections and raw edges of physical design, even in digital output.

The poster mirrors this same philosophy. Using distressed type, inkbleed textures, and references to vintage print techniques, I aimed to capture the film’s nostalgic and emotional undercurrents. Both pieces are rooted in a design approach that values feeling over polish where every element is considered not just for how it looks, but for what it communicates emotionally.
